A new word was added to the Oxford English Dictionary– and We’re Totes Excited About It

Every year the Oxford English Dictionary adds a slew of new words, terms and phrases to its lengthy list.

We love poring over the new additions and discovering words we’ve never heard of before, but there’s something especially gratifying about seeing the language we use on social media and in our everyday conversations make it into the ranks of the Oxford English Dictionary.

For example, the words “yolo,” “whatevs”, and “po-po” may have started out as mere slang words, but their popularity has helped them cement their place in the English language as legitimate terms. It’s sort of a big deal!

So of course we were excited when we found out about the recent addition of one word in particular. Care to guess what it is? Here’s a hint: The word rhymes with McGoats and shares its name with an awesome mobile app.

Guess Totes? You’re totes right!

Yes, we know they’re not exactly referring to our app in the dictionary but we can still celebrate. Plus, maybe this is a sign of things to come. Who knows — maybe “Totes Mobile” will make its way into the dictionary sometime soon.

Here’s looking at you, 2016. Make it happen!
