This fact alone is sufficient to establish the height of popularity of this series among the general public. Among many of the characters the most noticeable include Luke Skywalker, Jedi Master, Darth Vader, R2, D2 and C3PO.
Let’s now tread forward towards the history of Star Wars and how the inception took place in the mind of George Lucas. Celebrations of Star Wars Series:
In the year 2011 the first organized party or festivity for Star Wars Day happened in Toronto Canada. There were many segments dedicated to paying tribute to the series and saga of Star Wars. The different segments of the celebrations featured a game show based on the original trilogy. A costume party or contest was held which featured many celebrity judges as well. Other episodes of the event included mashups, parodies and the remixes. The second annual celebration took place on the legit date on May 4th 2012.
The Walt Disney is heavily associated with this series and observes holiday along with celebration of other Star Wars events at Disneyland and Walt Disney World. The patent to Lucas Films has been bought by Walt Disney in 2012 owing to the success of Star Wars.
Baseball teams in particular are a fan of Star Wars Series. Prominent teams like Toledo Mud Hens and the Durham Bulls payed a tribute to Star Wars by wearing special uniforms for the promotions.
Some Insight about Luke Skywalker
Not that I need telling, but yet let us hear it for another time, Luke Skywalker is our dearly central hero of the original Star Wars Trilogy. He became an iconic figure and cultural symbol who has a cult following because of his strong character in the movies. For those who do not know here is a little spoiler, Luke Skywalker is expected to play a humongous role in the 2017 movie that is in filming stages. He goes into hiding in this part as suggested by the tabloids and celluloids and he will reappear in the climactic scenes. Sorry for bringing that up.
His Sexual Orientation
People talk so much about the character of Luke Skywalker, but here are some of the fun facts that most you may have not noticed before or don’t know about yet. Did you know his sexuality has never been discussed or truly addressed in the films? He is your hero; you have all the right to decide what orientation you want him to have.
Anakin Star Killer
This is an interesting one you guys. The original name in the draft for Luke Skywalker was Anakin Star killer, yes you heard it right. Before production Mark Hamill the guy who plays Luke Skywalker was notified about the name being this which got changed later. George Lucas believed that audience would relate the name to another menace or cult leader/ killer Charles Manson so the name had to be changed.
Most of us have been acquainted with the happy ending of the original trilogy with all the dances and shenanigans. But there were many other alternatives too being considered by Lucas and his cowriter Lawrence Kasdan. They wanted to incorporate a darker ending too. The alternatives would have Luke dying while Princess Leia is taking over the Jedi Mission. This is believable because the other one was quite a shocker. It was suggested that when Darth Vader would die, Luke would put his father’s mask and would intend to destroy the Rebel Fleet in order to rule the galaxy. Well, these are just what the writers cooked up. Let’s see if that ever happens.
Luke’s Robotic Hand
I personally find it creepy but interesting at the same time. The Return of the Jedi portrays a scene where Luke’s robotic hand was cut off. However, despite being cut off, the hand kept crawling to reach out to the light saber in front of it. This came as a surprise to me and to the other fans as well.
You would also be fascinated to hear that on Star Wars Day in 2015, the astronauts from the International Space Station watched the Star Wars in space.
Can you name some other movie to have achieved that level of fame?
